Dr. Andrés Legarra

Andres Legarra was born in Spain. He earned BS (1997) and PhD (2002) degrees from Universidad Publica de Navarra, Spain. After postdocs and other positions in the US and Spain, he has worked since 2005 at the INRA Center, Toulouse, France, in the animal genetics department, where he is research director. Legarra works on genetic improvement of livestock with a strong emphasis on genetic evaluation with phenotypes, pedigree, and markers, and he enjoys making incursions in pure quantitative genetics. Speaking fluently three languages, he believes in the great value of international collaborations. Legarra also believes that key ingredients to science are rigor, enthusiasm, fun, and usefulness..
